AFTER SCHOOL CONNECTION
Starting Wednesday, October 7, the church will be offering a time for our elementary age children to come and connect with some of their friends before our Wednesday night programs to play or do homework, maybe allowing mom to run errands or grab a coffee.
This time will be supervised, and our regulations concerning COVID and social distancing will be in place. Masks will be required when inside the building, and we do ask if your child
is not well (sniffling, coughing, fever) that you refrain
from bringing them.
During this season as we face the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, all our programs have been suspended. We are working on ways to continue to connect with your children, though, and looking forward to a time when we can re-open our normal programming!
GRACE COV KIDS Nursery / Preschool Ministry (birth - 4 years)
Our nursery and preschool ministry cares for the youngest members of our congregation during Sunday School, worship services and, as needed, special events. Children are always welcome in the worship services, but nursery care is offered as a courtesy to families for whom this option is preferred.
Proverbs 22:6 instructs us to "Train up a child in the way he/she should go..." At Grace Covenant Church, Sunday School provides an excellent opportunity for children to learn and apply the truths of God's Word in ways appropriate for their age group. Children enjoy stories, crafts, games, music, memory verses, Bible reading and prayer.
Classes are held for ages 4-5/Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, and 5th & 6th grade. Additionally, nursery care is available for babies through 48 months (4 years) old, and classes are held for 7th-12th graders and adults.
Jr. Discovery Zone (Jr. DZ)
Meeting during the sermon portion of the worship service, children have the opportunity to discover what being a child of God is all about through worship in music, story-telling, Scripture readings, prayer and hands-on learning experiences.
On Communion Sunday's, children who have accepted Christ as their Savior are encouraged to remain in the worship service to participate in Communion with their families. Click here for downloadable brochure that helps parents prepare their children for Communion.
Our mid-week programs seek to help children build Christ-like character, develop relationships with caring adults, build friendships with other children, learn new skills, apply Biblical truths to their lives and more. Each week includes games, activities, Bible lessons, and more! We currently offer 3 groups for children, beginning with Kindergarten:
Young Pathfinders - Children in K-2nd are encouraged to join us for our weekly Bible adventures through games, stories, crafts, and activities to help children grow to be more like Jesus every day.
Stockade - (boys, grades 3-6) With the help of committed Christian leaders known as Rangers, the Stockaders learn the "three keys" of honesty, obedience, and courage that help them to become the kind of boys God desires them to be. A typical Stockade evening includes check-in time, group games, post-time for projects, Scripture memory, Bible lessons and relationship development. Highlights of the year include Pinewood Derby Night and Rocket Launch.
GEM'S Girls Club (girls, grades 3-6) is a place to belong. GEM'S is an exciting, safe environment for girls to learn about God, His Word and His world. Games, activities, crafts and stories make GEM'S Club a highlight of the week for GEM'S girls! Highlights of the year include the annual slumber party and Pinewood Derby Night!
Throughout the year, special events are held to help children grow in their faith, develop friendships, serve others and more. Some favorite events include Snow Much Fun (a winter break play-date), LEGO Fun Day, Family Serve and Share Days (i.e. Serve Party), and more!
Growing, Praying, Serving is for 3rd - 6th grade students held weekly during the summer months.
Every Spring, we challenge our kids (and families) to memorize Scripture! This year, our challenge began on Sunday, April 19, and will end on Sunday, May 31. We hope to be able to celebrate together at the end of the challenge!
